An accumulation of glass layers of different form, these glass drawings symbolize the string of thoughts popping up one after another. Su-yeon repeats the process of ‘drawing’ the stools with glass stringers onto sheet glass with powder and firing it in the kiln at a low temperature.

Most of my artwork is about my response from daily life. Some of them are about my habits, and some of them are based on the drawings I used to do regularly. I think that personal habits show the one’s identity, and for me, daily drawing is my diary and also visualized thoughts. I mainly use glass for my artworks to create my visual voice, and I hope my visual language would communicate with the viewer by itself.
‘Drawing’ is one of the primary resources in my work. My illustrations act as a memo or journal based on my daily routine. Also, my drawings are the tangible object that captures an abstract thought form an exact some moment. Instead of writing in words, I used to draw my thoughts into imagery, and utilize it into my glass work.
For me, creating art with glass is like traveling an unknown area. I experience more trial and error as I spend more time working and experimenting with glass. It is frustrating, but as I overcome these moments, I can understand glass as a material and also develop my visual voice in the glass. I am fascinated with thinking and playing with glass, and from this, I used to not focus on specific technique, I try to set my idea first and then choose and explore how to utilize glass in my body of work.
